UNI-T® and UNI-T AQ® are Bridgestone names for its groupings of several tire engineering innovations. This technology can be found on certain Bridgestone all season tires and now on a few Firestone tires, generally when the tire is designed to perform well in both wet and dry conditions.
UNI-T® combines three major Bridgestone technologies that drive the traction and handling features for optimal performance:
Naturally, you want your tire to be round for better balance and handling. Bridgestone uses a single, continuous strand of cable, called an O-Bead®, to keep the tire round, really round.
Bridgestone uses a tire compound with molecular engineered carbon black called L.L. Carbon® for better tread wear and improved wet weather handling.
The Bridgestone CO-CS® (Computer Optimized-Component System) runs on a supercomputer to simulate tire characteristics with different tread designs, tire shapes and materials.
UNI-T AQ® technology adds these new innovations:
Bridgestone’s EPO® compound (Extended Performance Compound) is a unique rubber compound designed to keep tires flexible when other compounds begin to harden due to the heat that builds from friction on the road. It’s particularly important to retain flexibility when you’re driving in wet weather.
There are two kinds of rubber compound in this tread. As your tire wears over time, the tread becomes thinner. That’s when the lower layer of the Dual Layer Tread is exposed, and it pops into action. That layer is designed to grip the road with extra strength to compensate for the thinner tread depth left on the tire. This is especially important in wet weather driving.
