Cooper Tires: A Brief History
Founded in 1920 by Ira J. Cooper, the Cooper Corporation grew to become the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company in 1946, through numerous mergers, acquisitions, and expanding sales. In 1960 Cooper became a publicly traded company, and over the next several decades, they expanded their product offerings, as well as manufacturing and distribution capabilities, and succeeded in reaching Fortune 500 status by 1983.
The early 2000s were characterized by joint ventures, sales, and expansion efforts that resulted in several well-established locations across numerous European countries, as well as China and Mexico. 2013 brought about the second-best annual operating profits in the company’s history, with the following year marking an impressive 100 years in the tire business.
Today, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company sits above a global company framework specializing in the design, manufacturing, and sale of numerous product lines and employing over 10,400 people. Headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, Cooper Tires manufactures products for passenger cars, light to medium trucks, motorcycles and racing vehicles. Manufacturing, sales, distribution, technical, and design operations are located across a dozen countries.
The Evolution Evolves
With over 100 years of experience in the tire industry, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has introduced hundreds of products to the tire market – their latest being the Cooper Evolution Tire line. Introduced in May of last year, the line is comprised of the newest technology offered in their all-season performance tires. According to Scott Jamieson, Cooper’s Director of Product Management for North America, Cooper Tires wants to “demystify the tire selection process” with the addition of a product line that allows “consumers [to] have their choice of which Cooper product is right for them based on features such as mileage warranty and technology.”
It’s clear to see how Cooper Tire has revamped their product offerings by introducing new technology via this unbeatable tire. Let’s take a closer look:
Composed of three different models, the Evolution Tour, Evolution Winter, and Evolution H/T, this product line meets the needs of almost anyone currently in the tire market. These tires will easily outfit any passenger car, crossover vehicle, SUV, or light duty pick-up.
The award-winning Cooper Evolution H/T tire boasts superior handling while maintaining a smooth, quiet ride. In 2017, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) recognized the Evolution H/T as the best new tire related product at the show due to technology ensuring long tread life and excellent wear. With StabiledgeTM technology and 3D Micro-GaugeTM siping, this M+S rated tire excels in enhanced road grip and traction during acceleration, braking, and cornering – no matter the terrain. Constant contact with the road is maintained through wide water channels in the tread, which expertly expel water and mud alike. The unique silica compound improves both wet and dry handling, keeps tires cool through heat displacement, and improves fuel efficiency by shortening braking distance.
Minimal tire noise, even tread wear, and extended tread life are all characteristic of the Evolution H/T tire. All that, plus a guaranteed 60,000-mile warranty.
It’s Time for a Tire R(Evolution)
Numerous improvements based on the Cooper Discoverer tire evolved into the creation of the Evolution tires, which outperform older models in areas such as wet and dry traction, off-road, and ride comfort.
After the official launch of the new line, the advanced level of product enhancements was obvious due to the unparalleled performance, handling, and durability of the products.
What can you expect from a new Cooper Evolution H/T tire purchase?
- All-season performance
- Standard Limited Warranty
- Superior handling
- Comfortable, quiet ride
