In 1872, Giovanni<\/strong> Battista Pirelli founded “G.B. Pirelli & C” to manufacture elastic rubber items.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1885,<\/strong> it started the rubber band production line for carriages \u2013 while in 1894, the<\/span> first tire for velocipedes<\/a> was launched (from which innovations came about which were instrumental in the manufacturing of tires). 1901<\/strong> was historic for Pirelli as it began producing car tires. Pirelli focused on serving the<\/span> racing <\/a>industry \u2013 and in the first Grand Prix of the Automobile Club of France (1907), the car fitted with Pirelli tires won the race.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 1930s, <\/b>the Superflex Stella Bianca\u2014the first innovative sports tire\u2014was launched. It was specially fitted with reinforced tread, making it more durable at high speeds.<\/span><\/p>\n

TCinturato, which featured “a sturdy belt in radial material between the carcass and the tread,” was born. It was revolutionary then, offering better safety, performance, and durability.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then, 2001<\/strong> was a breakthrough year: Pirelli used its MIRS (Modular Integrated Robotized System)\u2122 technology to produce its tires, substantially changing its tire-building process.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2009<\/strong>, its first high-performance tire produced under a “green philosophy” was introduced.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who owns Pirelli tires?<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Pirelli is an Italian multinational company that produces cars, motorcycles, and bicycle tires. It is owned by ChemChina, a state-owned chemical company based in China.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2015, ChemChina acquired a controlling stake in Pirelli, becoming the majority shareholder in the company. Pirelli is a publicly traded company \u2013 its shares are listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n
