Open Shoulder Drive
Open shoulder drive tires are the style of commercial traction tire for tractor trailers, oil and gas delivery trucks, and straight trucks in regional mixed service applications. A tread pattern with an open shoulder helps to evacuate water, slush, mud and dirt from between the tread blocks more efficiently then a closed shoulder tread pattern. For this reason, open shoulder drive tires for long haul trucking are more commonly used in regions of North America where there are heavy rains and winter conditions, or in applications that need extra traction on gravel roads or work sites with dirt or rocky terrain.
Medium duty open shoulder drive tires like the Dynacargo Y101 tire, Sailun S753 EFT tire, or the Kelly KDA tire are also commonly used as a traction tire on buses and RVs.
