Armstrong Tru-Trac HT Tires

The Armstrong Tru-Trac HT is a highway terrain all-season tire for light trucks and SUVs, built specifically around towing and hauling. It carries a UTQG rating of 740 A A and a 65,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, which together put its expected tread life well above most light truck tires at this price point.

The construction is tuned for load rather than for looks. A symmetric rib tread design ensures even pressure distribution and allows flexible rotation patterns to extend wear. An optimized curved tread profile increases casing rigidity so the tire holds its shape under a loaded bed or a trailer tongue instead of squirming, while also reducing rolling resistance to improve fuel economy on long hauls. For wet safety, four wide circumferential grooves paired with continuous open lateral channels rapidly evacuate water and slush to prevent hydroplaning. Meanwhile, noise-blocking bars on the shoulders keep the cabin quiet at highway speeds and slow the shoulder wear that heavy towing tends to cause.

If you are choosing between this and an all-terrain, the honest framing is about where the truck actually goes. If it lives on pavement and pulls a trailer, a highway tire like this will be quieter, last longer, and cost you less fuel than an all-terrain, whose off-road capability would go unused. If you regularly leave the asphalt, buy the all-terrain.

It is M+S rated but not 3PMSF certified, so for towing in heavy winter conditions, plan on a winter-rated tire instead.

Best-suited for: Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ram 1500, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon.
