The Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 is a highway all-season tire for light trucks, SUVs, and crossovers, serving as the industry benchmark for tread life, quietness, and towing stability. Backed by a 70,000-mile limited treadwear warranty on P-metric sizes (50,000 miles on LT-metric sizes), it is the tire against which the entire highway truck category is measured.

Michelin builds this durability through its heavy-duty EverTread compound and MaxTouch Construction, which distribute acceleration, braking, and cornering forces evenly across the contact patch. Under a heavy bed load or trailer tongue, this structure prevents casing squirm and maintains vehicle stability. For wet traction and hydroplaning resistance, wide circumferential grooves work alongside 3D interlocking sipes that lock together under stress to preserve block rigidity. To ensure cabin quietness on long highway drives, Michelin incorporates Piano Acoustic Tuning Technology, an advanced pitch sequence design that breaks up road noise before it transmits into the cabin.

The honest framing is about where your vehicle actually operates. If your truck leaves the asphalt regularly, an all-terrain tire is the correct choice, as a highway tire will wear its shoulders faster on loose gravel. However, if your truck lives on pavement, hauls cargo, and tows trailers, the Defender LTX M/S 2 will be noticeably quieter, last longer, and offer lower rolling resistance than any all-terrain tire on the market.

Two notes on the warranty. Michelin's treadwear coverage expires six years from the date of purchase regardless of mileage, and coverage is halved on staggered fitments that cannot be rotated. Keep your service records and rotate every five to seven thousand miles.
