Armstrong Tru-Trac AT Tires

The Armstrong Tru-Trac AT is a value-tier all-terrain tire for light trucks and SUVs, representing the foundational model in Armstrong's Tru-Trac lineup. It is engineered for drivers requiring functional on-road manners and practical off-road capability at an accessible price point.

The tread pattern features four zigzag circumferential grooves that rapidly clear water, slush, and loose mud from the footprint to suppress hydroplaning. At the tread center, interlocking center blocks with slanted edges provide continuous contact for high-speed tracking and sharp steering response, while dense zigzag siping and staggered shoulder blocks supply biting edges on wet pavement and unpaved roads. To promote long wear, connecting tie-bar bridges between shoulder blocks reduce tread squirm and prevent irregular heel-and-toe wear, while integrated stone ejectors continuously clear trapped gravel to defend the underlying casing against stone drilling.

If you are deciding between this and the Tru-Trac AT II, the second-generation model represents a structural upgrade, adding higher block rigidity and a standardized 65,000-mile limited treadwear warranty. However, the original Tru-Trac AT remains a dependable budget choice when upfront cost is the primary factor.

Neither generation carries 3PMSF severe snow certification, meaning they manage light winter conditions and cold morning pavement, but are not substitutes for true winter or all-weather tires on packed ice.

Verify the specific treadwear warranty details for your exact size. The Armstrong brand carries an American heritage dating back to 1912, with full DOT compliance and manufacturer backing. To maximize service life and prevent pattern noise, rotate every five thousand miles and maintain proper wheel alignment.
