Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tires

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is a max performance summer tire and the undisputed benchmark for street-driven sports cars, coupes, and performance sedans. Backed by a 30,000-mile limited treadwear warranty (halved to 15,000 miles for non-rotatable staggered fitments), it is a factory original equipment choice for flagship performance models from Porsche, BMW M, Mercedes-AMG, and Chevrolet.

What separates the Pilot Sport 4S is that it eliminates the traditional performance trade-off. Michelin's Dynamic Response Technology—a hybrid belt of high-density aramid and nylon—prevents centrifugal deformation at high speed for instantaneous steering precision. Underneath, Bi-Compound Technology utilizes two distinct elastomers on the tread profile: a novel hybrid compound on the outer shoulder for dry lateral grip and a wet-oriented elastomer on the inner ribs for short stopping distances in the rain. Cornering stability is further enhanced by Variable Contact Patch 3.0, a racing-derived footprint architecture that evenly distributes pressure and heat across the contact patch during high-g cornering.

The single most important thing to understand before buying: this is a summer tire. It is not an all-season and carries no winter rating. Below roughly 45°F (7°C), the specialized summer compound hardens and grip drops off sharply, making it unsafe on ice or snow. Michelin explicitly advises against operating or storing summer tires in freezing conditions. If you need a single tire set for year-round driving in cold climates, a high-performance all-season is the correct category.

Buy this tire if your vehicle is driven in warm climates and you demand the highest level of street performance, or if you run a dedicated second set for winter.

Best-suited for: Porsche 911 and Cayman, BMW M3 and M4, Chevrolet Corvette, Mercedes-AMG C63, Ford Mustang GT, Audi RS5, Nissan GT-R, Tesla Model S Plaid.

Tire Best Features:

Dynamic Response Technology (aramid/nylon hybrid belt) maintains structural integrity and steering razor-sharpness at track speeds.
Bi-Compound Technology combines dry-focused outer shoulder rubber with wet-gripping inner elastomers.
Variable Contact Patch 3.0 optimizes pressure distribution to eliminate hot spots during hard cornering.
30,000-mile limited treadwear warranty (15,000 miles on staggered rear fitments).
Class-leading wet braking and hydroplaning resistance deep into the tread's lifecycle.
Original equipment fitment on the world's leading supercar and sport sedan platforms.
