These tires are awesome. I will definitely be buying another set!!
I'll be honest, A friend told me he saw a 4x4 company do a tire test where they took the cheapest tire on the market and put it up against the rest. They chose the Nankang N889 M/T's and they were very impressed. They held up and did as well as everything else out there. I liked the way they looked and the price was right. I did HOURS of shopping and comparing. I only found 2 other comparable tires out there in the price range. By comparable, I mean in tread pattern, lug size, and based on the picture how good I thought the tire would do in the mud. FYI, THERE ARE 3(OR MAYBE 4) DIFFERENT NAMES, TIRE DESCRIPTIONS(IN THE NAME), AND PHOTOS OF THIS TIRE. BETWEEN AMAZON AND eBAY, IT GOT EVEN MORE CONFUSING. There was 4 different photos of the same time all w/diff descriptions on eBay and the same on Amazon. Even worse, the listings on eBay were also different from those on Amazon. After wasting hours comparing and trying to figure out what the differences were, I FINALLY JUST WENT TO THE NANKANG WEBSITE AND THEY ONLY MAKE 1- N889 MUD TERRAIN M/T. So it doesn't matter if on the listing the tire is called a Radial M/T, a Mud Terrain Tire or a N889 M/T Mud Tire or what the picture of the tire looks like… The listings are all for the same tire. In fact, the listing that I bought my set of tires from had the weakest looking tire of all the listings in the picture, so believe me, I was stressing until it was delivered hoping that my research had been correct and they really were all the same... When the tires arrived I was very happy and I have since mounted them and they look awesome. I don't have anything to compare them to, but I think they drive really nicely on the road. They are not loud. Can I hear them? Sure. But with the windows up they are hardly noticeable. Don't get me wrong, you can hear them. But I drove for 1 1/2hrs out to Gorman, CA without a radio last Saturday to take them off road and tire noise was NOT an issue AT ALL. They handled the drive nicely, the drive was enjoyable, and the little bit of humming they did make only made me smile when it made me think about how I had new tires on my truck and how anxious I was to use them… I didn't have my front driveshaft in, but we were only on dry dirt trails and I am very happy with my purchase so far. There was a couple of hill climbs that only having rear wheel drive made it a challenge, but the tires handled and performed awesome... I didn't once have any issues with traction, even with only rear wheel drive... I cannot wait until the rain comes so that I can try these beasts in the mud with my front driveshaft in with 4 wheel drive. I definitely recommend these tires based solely on their performance... But they were also one of the most affordable tires on the market as well... I am not sure, but I think because they are radials they are supposed to handle better on the street and last longer... If that's the case that is just another added bonus. Their performance was awesome and I have ZERO complaints. I have also received a lot of compliments from people in passing about how nice or how badass my tires look. I am anxious for some rain and mud so that I can put them up against my buddies BF Goodrich M/T's and watch them get jealous that I save about $200(at least) and I am going everywhere they are and probably will be doing it easier. Great aggressive lug pattern and big thick lugs make this tire worth as much as any very expensive tire out there but without the price tag to kill your wallet... I am very very satisfied with this purchase... Nankang 889 M/T 33x12.50xR15's far exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be purchasing the same tire again.
