All Position Tires
All Position tires can help fleets and owner operators simplify their tire maintenance program and lower their operating costs. The key to lower costs is finding the right brand and style that has performance characteristics to fit your specific application and road conditions. All Position tires need to provide grip and handling in the steer tire position, but also long tread-life and resistance to irregular wear on the free rolling axle of the trailer.
Occasionally, the ribbed tread patterns of all-position tires are used on the drive axle to try and get the longest tread-life possible. The Sumitomo ST 727 tire, and the Toyo M122 commercial tire have hard tread compounds, open circumferential grooves and sipes for traction, which makes them more versatile than a dedicated trailer tire, or a tire designed only for the front axle steer tire position.
